The build up of sludge in hot water central heating systems is inevitable, no matter what fuel source is used. Over a period of time this sludge can block pipes and prevent the radiators from distributing heat around your house.
Sludge can also seriously affect the efficiency of your central heating system; it will lead to higher fuel bills and can bring forward the time when you need to replace some or all of the system.
The solution? remove sludge and scale by power flushing your central heating system. Power flushing starts at around £325 for the whole system.
Will Power flushing help my system?
Almost certainly! All central heating systems are unique and their condition depends on type, age and usage among other things but the symptoms of clogged or scaled systems are the same: a noisy boiler, cold radiators and high fuel bills.
There are about 5 million heating systems in the UK that could be classed as near to the end of their life. They show some or all of these symptoms:
- The boiler is noisy
- The radiators and other parts of the system are leaking
- It takes a long time for the system to warm up
- The radiators have cool or cold spots at the bottom and in the middle
- Radiators need regular bleeding of accumulated air and show evidence of black sludge
- Pump and part failures.
